Interfaith Outreach and Wayzata Library Children’s Garden

Service programs are an important part of our mission. Our current project is with Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners (IOCP) https://www.iocp.organd The Wayzata Library Children’s Garden https://www.hclib.org/about/locations/wayzata.

In 1991 the Wayzata Garden Club designed and cultivated a small garden for IOCP and in 1995 the garden was dedicated as the Sally MacMillan Memorial Garden in honor of a former garden club member. We support the work they are doing for our community and are excited to be involved with this wonderful project.

The Wayzata Garden Club donated the pergola and gate in 2004 in honor of our club’s 50th anniversary.  Then in 2022 we officially added the upkeep and maintenance of the Wayzata Library Children’s Garden to our outreach programming.  We are happy to support our beautiful town, the library, and the Library’s charming garden.

MORE ABOUT IOCP (from their website)

IOCP started with a promise in a Wayzata church basement 40 years ago. “We will build a community where everyone counts, where all children are cherished and protected, and where family life is valued and supported by all.” Since 1979 this great community has been doing just that – leading, rallying, and igniting the power of people in the western suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota to address the critical needs of people living right here – our neighbors. What started as a small food shelf has become a resource for thousands of families in eight west Hennepin County communities.

The garden is located on the north side of the Wayzata Library and can be accessed through the gate on the northeast corner off Broadway Avenue South & Rice Street East. With benches and seating areas, it’s a special place for story time or relaxing.
